Meet the Author
Casey M. Boswell is a novelist, playwright, lyricist, and storyteller whose work explores the lives, struggles, triumphs, and relationships of LGBTQ+ people across different eras of American history. Through richly developed characters and emotionally driven narratives, he seeks to preserve stories that are often overlooked while celebrating the resilience, humor, courage, and humanity that connect us all. His writing frequently examines the ways in which individuals build community, find belonging, and create families of choice while navigating the social challenges of their time.
Born and raised in the Midwest, Casey now lives in Palm Desert, California, with his husband of nearly thirty years, Ben. Together they have built a life filled with adventure, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of home. When he is not writing, Casey enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring the beauty of the desert, gardening, traveling, and finding inspiration in the people and places around him. A lifelong observer of people and the stories they carry, he often draws creative inspiration from history, personal experiences, and the remarkable lives of everyday individuals whose journeys might otherwise be forgotten.
Although best known as a novelist, Casey's creative interests extend well beyond fiction. In addition to writing novels, he has written numerous poems and song lyrics and is the creator of the original musical stage play Witness To A Journey. The play follows the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals across six decades of history through a combination of dramatic storytelling and original music, reflecting Casey's passion for preserving community history and honoring those whose stories deserve to be remembered. His work across multiple creative mediums shares a common goal: documenting the experiences, struggles, victories, and enduring spirit of a community whose history has too often gone untold.
Casey's published novels include House of Biscotti, Our House Lounge, and Voices From The Fog, each offering readers a unique window into different corners of LGBTQ+ life and history. House of Biscotti transports readers to the vibrant yet turbulent world of late-1960s New York City, where drag performers, dreamers, and outsiders fight to create spaces where they can be seen and celebrated. Our House Lounge explores friendship, family, loss, and resilience through the lives of an unforgettable cast of characters brought together by a beloved neighborhood gathering place. Voices From The Fog blends mystery, history, and suspense as it uncovers hidden secrets from San Francisco's LGBTQ+ past, reminding readers that the echoes of history continue to shape the present.
His current work, The Hotel Empress, continues his exploration of LGBTQ+ history through the lens of a legendary San Francisco hotel whose walls have witnessed decades of love, heartbreak, triumph, and transformation. Like much of Casey's work, the novel seeks not only to entertain but also to preserve pieces of community history that risk being lost with the passage of time.
Whether writing about drag performers in 1960s New York, the hidden history of San Francisco's LGBTQ+ community, or fictional characters navigating love, loss, identity, and belonging, Casey's stories are grounded in a commitment to authenticity and emotional truth. He strives to create characters who feel real, complex, and relatable, allowing readers to see themselves reflected in the pages of his books regardless of their background.
For Casey, storytelling is more than entertainment—it is a way to document lives, preserve memories, challenge assumptions, and foster understanding. He believes stories have the power to bridge generations, spark meaningful conversations, and remind us of our shared humanity. Through every novel, poem, lyric, and play, he hopes to create characters readers will remember long after the final page is turned and stories that continue to resonate long after they are read. His greatest hope is that readers not only enjoy the journey, but also come away with a deeper appreciation for the people, communities, and histories that inspired it.
